1st Sunday of Advent
Luke 21:25-28, 34-36
“A terrible calamity will come upon the earth and a wrathful judgement upon his people.
Jesus gives advice for being alert, but not overwhelmed as we enter Advent.
Let us pray: Dear God, as we begin the season of Advent, help us to find you every day. Let us bring all our activities to you and rest with you between them so that we may be refreshed and positive at the celebration of Christmas. Amen.
Mass this week: Mass will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 (Church attire) –Our 6th graders will prepare the liturgy. We ask that our students please bring a nonperishable item to Mass to support our food bank. When students enter the church they will be directed to place their offering on the bottom step of the altar. All are welcome to attend our school Masses at 8:10 am.
Friday, December 7th Minimum Day: This coming Friday is a Minimum Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:35. Students remaining should bring a lunch.
Grinch For Good- Food Drive Advent Service Project: Did you know that every Monday morning, the St. Theresa Parish Food Pantry serves over 200 people? Our Student Council has dedicated the month of December to help those less fortunate during the Advent Season by collecting nonperishable food items for our Parish Pantry. Using the movie theme for the Grinch, our students are hoping to grow the Grinch’s heart three times by actively participating in bringing in donations!
St. Theresa School Bakers: (From our St. Theresa Parish Altar Society): Need Service Hours (PIP points)? The St. Theresa Altar Society needs cookies. Please bake a batch or two of your favorite cookies. You can bring them to school on Friday, December 14 or to the school gym on Saturday, December 15 between 11 AM and 2 PM. Proceeds go towards the St. Theresa Altar Society Scholarship Fund for St. Theresa School.
Christmas Luncheon: For the past 59 years, the St. Theresa Catholic School held an annual luncheon. This is a big tradition in the Coachella Valley and it continues to today. This year, we are moving the Christmas Luncheon to a Sunday- December 16th at 11:00 AM to be hosted at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa. We would like as many of our families to attend. Tickets are $65.00 each and a table of 10 is $600.00. This is a beautiful event that has been enjoyed by many people. In addition to the silent auction, there will be a Holiday Shopping Bazar and a Cigar Lounge.
We are in need of silent auction items. If you know retailers who would be willing to make a donation, we do have letters available in the school office. Items worth $65.00 or more will receive 2 PIP point credits 4 PIP point credits if an item has a value of $100.00. We ask that all silent auction items be brought to the school no later than Thursday, December 13.
Models and workers needed for the Christmas Luncheon: We are having our 59th Annual Christmas Lunch Fashion Show on Sunday, December 16th and we are using Parents, Alumni, and Teachers for the Models.
If you are interested in Modeling (Men and Women needed) in the Fashion Show please meet at the Lunch Tables at STS on Monday, December 3rd at 3:15 pm. The requirements will be the following:
One fitting at the Trina Turk Store in Palm Springs
One additional practice- TBD
Arrive at the Agua Caliente Hotel on December 16th at 9:30 am for practice and stay for the show.
You will have time to sit and eat lunch if you would like to also purchase a ticket for the Show.

Christmas Program: Save the date, Thursday, December 20 at 6:00 pm. In the Church. Students are to arrive no later than 5:45 pm and are to be seated in their assigned pew. Students are asked to dress in the Christmas season. There is no assigned seating, so it is suggested that you arrive early. There is no standing permitted to take pictures. Once your child’s grade level performs, there will be a designated place for pictures. After your child’s class performs you are required to return to your pew. No food or beverages are permitted in the church. Food and drink are allowed in the vestibule only. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Plan Ahead: December 21 is a Minimum Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:35 pm. Extended care will not be provided on this day.
